• 2027 New Zealand Symposium Call for Ideas

Help Shape the 2027 New Zealand Symposium

Planning is underway for the 2027 New Zealand Symposium, taking place in Ōtautahi Christchurch, 7 – 8 April 2027, and we’re inviting passionate engagement professionals to help shape this special event.

There are several ways you can get involved:

    1. Suggest Topics and Speakers

Tell us which topics, themes and issues you would like to see explored at the Symposium. You can also nominate speakers or panellists who you believe would add value to the programme.

    2. Join the Programme Working Group

We’re seeking current Engagement Institute members who are keen to contribute their expertise and help shape a dynamic and impactful programme.

    About the Working Group

As a member of the Symposium Programme Working Group, you’ll play a key role in:

    • Shaping the event programme, including topics and speakers
    • Providing local insights to inform content and relevance
    • Identifying key discussion areas and potential panellists
    • Supporting engagement with local networks to enhance participation

    Who We're Looking For

We welcome expression of interest from Engagement Institute members who:

    • Can commit to monthly virtual meetings and follow-up actions
    • Are willing to review abstracts and contribute to programme development
    • Bring a broad range of engagement experience
    • Offer insights into engagement practice in Aotearoa
    • Are motivated to contribute to a successful and meaningful event

     3. Host a Site Tour

We’re inviting organisations and groups to host site visits in the CBD during the Symposium. These tours will give attendees the opportunity to explore projects - completed or in progress - that demonstrate strong community and stakeholder engagement.

If you have a project with a compelling story and valuable engagement lessons to share, we’d love to hear from you. Share your idea via the form or email  events@engagementinstitute.org.au

This form will close on Friday 30 October 2026.

Stay tuned for the formal call for abstracts, opening in November.
