In 2026, the Engagement Institute is proud to offer three governance scholarships, including two new scholarships made possible through our partnership with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Engagement Institute Governance Scholarship

One scholarship valued at up to AU$10,000 to support a member in completing either the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) or New Zealand Institute of Directors (NZIoD) Company Directors’ Course in 2026-27.

NEW – AICD Future Leaders Scholarships

Governance Foundations for NFP Directors

One scholarship for emerging governance leaders seeking to strengthen their governance capability within the not-for-profit sector.

Company Directors Course

One scholarship for experienced leaders seeking comprehensive governance education.

Conditions of Award

Engagement Institute Governance Scholarship

By accepting the scholarship, recipients agree to:
- Complete the course within 12 months of being awarded the scholarship.
- Commence the course within the same financial year (1 July – 30 June) in which the scholarship is awarded.
- Submit evidence of successful course completion, such as the official certificate of completion issued by the course provider, confirming all requirements have been met.
- Attend the Engagement Institute’s Annual Conference or New Zealand Symposium to formally accept the scholarship.
- Contribute back to the Engagement Institute community within three months of completing the course by either:
  - Writing a short reflection piece for publication in Engagement Institute’s communications, and/or
  - Presenting a short webinar or attending an event to share key insightss.
- Acknowledge the Engagement Institute’s support in any public communications related to the scholarship.
Failure to meet the conditions may result in cancellation of the scholarship and/or reimbursement of funds.

AICD Future Leaders Scholarships

Recipients must:
- Complete the AICD acceptance process
- Agree to AICD Future Leaders Scholarship Terms and Conditions
- Complete the assessment component of the Company Directors Course (where applicable)
- Participate in reasonable scholarship-related activities requested by AICD, including testimonials, surveys or case studies
- Complete the course by 30 June 2027 (or as determined by AICD).
- Outcomes will be confirmed in writing
